Re: Apple iPhone

I just find it amusing how blind some people can be to the limitations of the iphone simply because its an APPLE iphone.- We have people at work who are zealous about it! I MAY have snagged a 16gig 3g for free!! My mum has bought the i4 and has offered Bex her 16gig 3g, so we're taking it and Bex is...

Re: Apple iPhone

If you're running anything other than a 3GS or 4G iphone I'd stay away from iOS4. I installed iOS4 on my 8gb 3g phone... it slowed down- now I have to wait for apps, my email went wrong and I had to delete my account and then reenter it, my data settings reset themselves and again had to be edited. ...

Re: Apple fanboy facts

Rather than continuing to hijack the iphone thread I thought I'd update you on my ipod progress here... I've got a big and (so I thought temperamental) 160gig ipod classic. For months I've been having issues where when I go to add music- either thru sync or manual management. The ipod would crash, b...

I thought she was a little young for golf, but if its good enough for Tiger to start young... look where it got him :-?

Re: Apple iPhone

I've just installed os4.. Can't say I've noticed a change to my 3G at all. (Except the fact that I think the calculator symbol is slightly different). Oh, and that it dropped my cellular data network and I had to reenter it in the settings menu. I only have 4 extra apps on my phone (airport, remote,...

Re: General Election

I've heard one too many Con-Dem-Nation puns for my liking already this morning. (Plus one amusing reference to Ed Balls being part of a hung parliament). My 2p worth is that I don't like Cameron- he seems REALLY slimy to me, but he's what we've got. So we'll just have to give him the benefit of the ...

Re: Apple iPhone

Done it! Well done to o2 for making it totally painless. I typed my mobile number into their upgrade website, and was sent a code to type into the appropriate box.. this lead me to another screen where I selected either a new phone etc or a sim only contract... I selected the sim. Filled in some mor...

Re: Apple iPhone

So, £20 a month rolling contract it is! Thats £15 less per month, and I'll reassess the situation whenever the 4g is released (I think getting a 3gs cheaper is what I'll aim for- that way Bambi might get a free 3g from me!)

Re: Apple iPhone

So, I've reached the end of my 18month iphone contract with o2. What should I do next... 1. Negotiate a cheaper deal and keep my 8gb 3g? 2. Negotiate for a 3Gs 3. Do nothing and wait for the next generation version to be released and then either... a- get a 3gs with increased capacity for a discount...

Re: Broadband speeds

At home we get around 6.5mb down and 1 up. Again, this is OK. Especially as we're on the same ISP as Al.

Re: Broadband speeds

I just tested the Uni again (I'm in a new building). At 1400- peak usage time... I got
27.36 down and 7.26 up.
Not too shabby. If I can ever be bothered to get in early I'll test it on a quiet day.

Re: Snow Watch

We have snow. Only an inch or so right now, but it's still comin down. Marvellous. I put my winter bike away in my parents garage (2miles away) about a month ago. Tomorrows commute could be "interesting"!

Re: Snow Watch

OK, its the 30th of March... and the snow is back. It was sleeting this morning on my way to work, the hills around the campus all have snow on them and it bl00dy FREEZING again. Edinburgh remains snow free, but that could change. The rain is wonderfully chilly, and tomorrows forecast is for a max t...
