Nice image, I'm not surprised it won. It seemed to load quite slowly, so it might be a bit big. If it helps, I suggest 1000 pixels wide at widest point, 72ppi and a file size of 200-300KB is just about perfect. I find 500px works fine. Although it can depend on the image.
