Well, I was suitably intrigued... definitely an interesting opening gambit! I think Neil Gaiman's worked on film and TV scripts before so he's not too new to it all.
I just hope they won't have any major logic fails in this series.

Re: The New Doctor Who
I knew there would be a downside to going to Mull this weekend. To the iPlayer!

Four Lions: 4s Watched this a week or so ago, and wasn't surprised to find out it was written by Chris Morris: there were moments when I didn't know whether to laugh or be shocked, but then again it is a comedy about British-Muslim extremists. Some nice one-liners in it, and the out-takes are very m...

Re: TV: Red Dwarf...but different.
I never even managed to watch those four episodes from 2009, will have to check them out sometime - should give a decent idea of how the even newer ones will turn out! I'm just a little worried they may scar the franchise... at least they got all the original cast.

Re: Brief Movie Reviews
Harry Brown: 3s or 4s depending on my mood. Michael Caine and the rest of the cast make this better then it maybe should be. It's basically a revenge fantasy set in a decaying London estate. Not very sensitive with its subject matter, but good visual mood and visceral qualities. Black Swan: 4s A som...

I cannot be the only person who wants a Transformable Tomas now, surely? That one item is brilliant in its audacity.
The rest are mostly awesomely bad, especially the iPad lookalike. Oh, and Gangsta Chip & Dale.

Re: ADAPS Year Book 2011-2012
Didn't spot this! Had a quick flick through, there's a huge range of photos in there which keeps it interesting. I'm curious as to what the scene on page 47 depicts... looks like something religious.

Certainly neat, almost too much for my tastes! The stairs would be scary if you were drunk (two flights to fall down instead of one).

All crime and ASB 613 Burglary 71 Anti-social behaviour 201 Robbery 14 Vehicle crime 56 Violent crime 63 Other crime 208 Ooh er missus. I'm blaming some of the adjacent areas for skewing the statisitics. The big missing statistic? In my humble opinion the statistic missing is the number of people (r...

SALT:
Saw this a while ago, was surprised at how watchable it was. Huge plot holes, gloriously over the top action sequences yet a very serious tone- this renders it like a cross between the old Bond films and The Bourne Identity.

Was trying to go for that in one or two of my Mull photos, didn't quite work out though!
World Press Photo Winners 2010 (via the BBC) - some stunning shots there, needless to say.

That was a shocker of a crash - am still trying to figure out how the car got so badly mangled (ah, have just seen that a crash barrier penetrated the footwell?!). I read that he's got some movement back in his hand, it's now a question of how it progresses from here. Fingers crossed.

Re: iPod Touch 4
I did think it might seem a little harsh, but if someone was on a contract phone they may as well not bother with this and get an iPhone instead as there's a fair bit of function overlap. Without 3G some of the apps are limited in their use slightly too. Maybe the rating reflects some degree of iPho...

Have just seen the first few minutes then had to halt, if it continues along the same lines it should be excellent. Spray-on shoes = win.

So... as the tech specs show, it's a slimmer version of the iPhone. Slimmer because it has no phone, no GPS, no mobile internet (only WiFi), no digital compass and a lower resolution camera. It's my first real experience with an Apple product, and I'm impressed. The retina display is stunning (you c...
