Rugby Union 2007
It was a really good match. I found the second half totally gripping but if I was a certain coach I would bollock a certain number 10 until he shat himself/cried/broke down like he did on the pitch.
However, that is all incidental as I write very patriotically ''Let's hammer the Yanks' arses back over the pond to Washington D.C. tomorrow and make them wish they had never bothered arriving in the country of frogs legs and snails''

I did not see the match but the score line was amazing. . . . who would have thought it given France's unbeatable run pre-competition! Maybe they tired themselves out on the warm ups. . . .? Will be watching the Ruggers more carefully today. . . after doing a few bits and pieces of wedding things. :D
(PS Was at a friends birthday meal so missed match - good food though, a great italian place near lizzie's work. Looks dodgy as hell from the outside but great ambience and food inside. . . and wine too, it was a dramatic fall from the wagon!)

I don't think they tired themselves out, I think they psyched themselves out to be honest. They were very poor and never got going. Strellar was appalling and Michelak wasn't much better (I apologise for spellings)
New Zealand looked very good at the beginning and I think gave up after about 30 minutes. Australia are looking good as well. Less than one hour to go........ (I hate being English, the optimism before a big sporting tournament always begins at some point and I hope I am not let down again)

England vs USA: "meh" is the best summary I can come up with. Then again, I'm still drunk. Didn't watch the whole match, but unless I missed some totally inspiring bits on England's part there wasn't much to shout about.

There were some good score lines from yesterday's matches and some average ones! Nz vs Italy 76-14, Australia vs Japan 91-3 and England Vs USA 28-10. . . . .
NZ and Aus really did well against their traditionally weaker opponents. Italy looked a little bit over awed to start with but played better as time went onwards.
Austrailia were almost faultless, very good rugby.
England struggled. It was painful to see but their was little inspiration on the pitch. Brian Ashdon and Phil Vickery's comments were interesting, BA 'can't put his finger on why there was a lack of energy and enthusiasm on the pitch'. PV was disappointed with the performance and wanted to build on it sharpish for South Africa on Friday! :D

I was going to say that that Rugby World Cup website's miles better than the RFU's, but it looks like the RFU got their act together in time for the tournament and totally re-did it.
It's very tempting for me to go teetotal until the wedding. Last night was a bit much by my standards: one bottle of wine and 350ml of vodka. I can only surmise I realised just how out of it I was so decided to go lie down. The head's dizzy, but I'm convinced I'm still drunk. Which means I have a hangover to look forward to...yay.

I hate the still drunk morning after, they are painful in the extreme! I am perfectly fine this morning - am glad that a weekend of boozing did not knock me for six following the detox. . . :D

Ooh, Sports Cafe. I'll come along, partly because it gives me an incentive to get into work on time. And hey, I can only be pleasantly surprised by the result of the actual match (my expectations for England are indeed that low).

FOR WHAT?!?!?! Dude, you smacked my arm quite harshly as I was drinking and called me a bitch.... at least two times. You also challenged me to a hitting contest and when I refused to cooperate you smacked me again!mr_e wrote:Andy, retribution for what? And...er...finger rolls?
Why the finger rolls? I dunno, there were just there on the kitchen table and it was quite amusing to attract your attention by going ''Johnnnn....'' and then hit you every time you looked up. Made up for it in a weird kind of way.
