phpBB3 has been released!

Post by Mike »

I will be looking at upgrading the forum this weekend to the latest version and it will hopefully get rid of the porn posters (sorry for those who were looking forward to the next breach!)

Hope you will all look out the the upgrade it should be pretty exciting (especially for computer geeks).

Less spam = good. Hopefully the transition will go smoothly, but I'm not expecting any drastic interface changes. It is a stable release, right?

Man, major cosmetic changes as well! As soon as I find out how to put the avatars back on the left again, I'll be much happier.

*goes to play with user options*

The whole board does seem to split one page of options into as many pages as possible! The UCP and the ACP are both seem more complicated but they are set out logically so when you get used to them they are easier to use. The avatars should have copies over okay but I made a slight error in the upgrading of the old forum. Hopefully this will not repeat if I upgrade johnriley1uk and adapsuk. Hopefully they will give the green light soon before all the knowledge seeps out of my tiny little mind! :P

UCP, ACP blah blah blah.

I like it! Pimp my forum, this is way sexier than the old version. Forget the technical mumbo jumbo, the new version is priddy!

You know you like the lingo. . . . I like to use it so it seems I have more computer knowledge than I actually do! Oh and I agree very priddy! Though the first time I read that I saw almost read it as P Diddy. . . . very odd.

I did not realise but they actually went through 8 release candidates to get it right! That is an amazing bit of programming and am really amazed this software is actually free! Quality isn't it.

There is also a cool feature that will not enable us to activate a daylight saving time - roll on summer when I can activate it. :P

I have re-indexed the site now so the search function will now work again. It is a little slower than usual but not too bad!

I'm with Claire on this one...I suffer too much techno-mumbo-jumbo when at work...the forum looks awesome now! :)

I noticed a nice feature the other day. When you visit the forum and look at some new topics (say half the new ones available) and then close your browser and revisit later the remaining topics are still marked as new. How cool is that?!
