Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
AD&D v4 is just around the corner. Maybe it would be fun to try it out just to see what the differences are. On the other hand, it might just be a waste of time

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
it does look to be a waste of time; going on-line to play might be okay if you're an a-typical geek who's as popular as a horny dog at a funeral, but those of us with friends and brains that haven't been fried from years of television radiation and internet porn will still surely prefer the old-fashioned approach of books and dice, playing in a group and not just playing with yourself [ahem]. that said, isn't the 3rd edition damned to the lowest level of hell by most long-term players? its reception at dragonsfoot seems to be as welcome as a case of the runs, but i cant work out what is so awful about it.
I came, I saw, I bought the T-shirt

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
Wired have a sneak preview of the 4th edition dnd character sheet. It looks complicated but intriguingly different! The character sheet has been filled in for a Paladin with an Astral Weapon, it seems to be indicating that the character is at least half dragon. . . .

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
The thing about AD&D is that it's not about the rules but it's about the adventure, the people involved and the delightfully random things that can happen.
For some people it is about the rules, and they are incredibly boring in play sessions!

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
Wired have given the 4th edition a good review. They say it cuts through the rules and admin on the previous editions and brings out some real good fun into the adventure. As well as reducing the amount of work for the DM which is considerable. Might be worth having a go at some point.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
Wired are reporting that Romans used a D20! The image below is of a 2000 year old die that I would love to play dnd with. Don't think that the numbers would be translated as anything other than a 20 though. . . .

Re: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
John McCain uses an 80's stereotype to defend himself and likens his critics to basement dwelling D20 wielding DnD freaks. Yawn, seen it, heard it, bored now. . . .
There are some funny comments to the articles question 'what would John McCain be in the DnD world'.
