Ha, editors are really going to have to watch out for misspellings with this one.
I think the -271C is purely for electrical conduction rather than simulating big bang conditions (I understand the magnets are actually kept a fraction colder than outer space): those are some big, big magnets they've got. I was a bit worried about the thousand litres of liquid helium that leaked... didn't sound too good. I'm sure they can just flush it down the drains or something.
