This has recently been adapted by the BBC based on Thomas Hardy's classic Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Essentially the story is a tragic tale based around the very hard and disappointing life of a aspiring girl called Tess Durberfields. Self taught and aspiring as a school teacher she is manipulated and controlled by her Mother and Father, Alec D'Urberville and her eventual husband, Angel Clare. Wikipedia has a better summary of the story but here we are talking about the adaptation. The acting was good and well chosen, the plot was strong and over all very entertaining (if intentionally tragic).
