Land Registary

Post by Mike »

Land Registry allows you to download for £3 the Title Deeds and the Red Line Plan of land in ownership of each house. Quite an interesting service!

Apparently, increasingly banks and building societies are not holding on to the deeds. I suppose as we go more and more electronic all that physical storage space of paper deeds takes up too much room and costs too much.

But what do you do with them when you've received them - currently mine is in the bedding drawer...

I think you clutch them, hold them close and cackle maniacally, "Mine! Mine! All mine!....."

That's what I plan to do one day anyway. ;-)

Lol. Except it isn't mine, I still (obviously) have a mortgage but I still have my deeds... Ah well never come up with a solution, is intersting to look through them - the amount of parelfarnarlia involved.

It is very useful for Architects to check that their Client actually owns all the land they are intending to build on. For £3 it is a cheap and in my humble opinion vital! Not only that but it means in the case of house buying that we can check to make sure we understand the full extent of potential property.
