Working with sick people leads to a higher instance of sick leave being used. Wow, who had the foresight to order this report?! I would not have expected that response.

Random research. I suppose you could substitute plague for zombies but that is a pretty extreme response to an illness. ie Kill all the people who get ill.BarcelonAl wrote:Probably the same person who commissioned this report

Dan Brown Novels are the most donated to charity shops in the UK. Finally some sense!

Women in the US rally to protest about a law that allows men to go topless but harasses women if they try to do the same thing. Well, that is unfair, so I suggest that women are allowed to go topless if they want, I can't imagine that many would want to but that is a different matter all together.

Re: In the News
I have absolutely no objection whatsoever if women want to go topless. I'm even very happy about it. Men, on the other hand, should be stopped immediately.

Star Wars Fan to sell his memorabilia horde. May be worth £1 million! Who's the geek now, Monkey Boy?!
Xavier Gordon-Brown passes a math GCSE at the age of Eight. Funny for two reasons, his name and his age.
Real Life Tardis needs thoasands spent on it to restore[/url]. However, it is only one of several remaining in the UK. I am surprised that the 20th Century Society has not interviened.

Re: In the News
Cure found for Neonatal diabetes. This affects 1 in 100,000 babies and is diagnosed usually within the first 6 months of life. It is relatively uncommon (the article describes Type 1 Diabetes as more common - interesting linguistics because Type 1 is quite rare!).
I wonder if this will mean a future cure for other types of diabetes?
One entertaining part of the article above. The main person being cured was a man, when they needed an image of someone injecting insulin they used a smooth skinned female (actor?). Obviously his hairy stomach did not have enough sex appeal for the news!

Sir Terry steps down as BBC 2 breakfast presenter at the age of 71. Moyles will now only have 3 months to beat the Toggster's viewing figures!

Re: In the News
Athlete fails gender testing. A South African athlete came to global attention by winning the 800m world championships by over 2.5 seconds, having only come onto the scene this year. She was made to take a gender test, she has maintained that she's 100% female. She seems to have been found to be a hermaphrodite.
Aside from the (inevitable) jokes. I feel REALLY sorry for the poor girl. Her chosen (incredibly promising, lucrative and already successful) career appears to be over, and more over she may have just found out that she's never going to have children either. If that doesn't wreck her head nothing will!

Re: In the News
I liked the BBC's explanation of gender and intersex conditions, which was pretty informative.
"For example, in a common condition called androgen insensitivity syndrome, the foetus has male chromosomes but it does not respond to testosterone.
As a result, the baby develops down the "default" female route.
The testes are there but usually do not descend and remain hidden in the body and the condition does not become apparent until adolescence when the girl does not start her period."
That's some unusual stuff right there.
