Price Differences

Post by Mike »

It is quite interesting that a Sony DVP-FX930 on Amazon.co.uk is £221 and on Amazon.com is $149.58. The exchange rate means it would be £91.86 in Sterling. WTF.

Can we order from Amazon.com and get it delivered to the UK?

Hmm... there's probably VAT (17.5%) plus import duty (up to about 14%) to pay, but that particular item would likely still work out cheaper. That's if Amazon will even sell it to you, which is likely to be the major hurdle there.

America do seem to get some cheap electronics, which is annoying.

Buying from the USA is rarely a problem, but you are likely to be caught with a charge for import duty, carrier handling fee, plus VAT on the whole lot.

Still, is it likely to come to about £130 in extras?
