Manchester Congestion?

Post by johnriley1uk »

I thought you might like to see the extent of congestion in central Manchester. Yesterday (Friday) at around 8.45am.

I count six cars in those two photos. Congestion is clearly out of control and charges are required to alleviate the problem.

Having said that, were the pictures taken of normally/allegedly busy roads? Don't recognise them off-hand.

The first one is at Greengate near Victoria Station. The second one is right at the centre where Deansgate meets St Mary's Gate. That road with the six cars is the A56....

You should be able to recognise the lower one - that is near M&S and Paperchase (just off the photograph to the left). Ultimately the congestion in Manchester has been caused by Manchester local government by (among other things) reducing the width of dual carrigeways through the city to a single lane. Not particularly smart and guaranteed to increase conjestion.
