The Soundtrack To Your Life

Post by Fez »

I thought I'd canvass some views on something we all enjoy - music.

The computer games list Mike did produced a lot of the same results, particularly highlighting the fact Mike and John E seem to have Napolean Complexes with all the invasions and warfare they obviously find pleasure in, but I thought we might uncover some more diverse answers with something more emotive and personal as favourite tunes.

Feel Good Tune - Island In The Sun Weezer

Party Time - Nice Guys Finish Last Green Day

Feel Bad Tune - Lucky Day In Hell The Eels

Feel !%&$?* Tune - 5 Minutes Alone Pantera

Hangover Music - Yesterday's Men Madness

Feeling Romantic - What Do You Do For Money, Honey? AC/DC

Song For the Revolution - I Don't Wanna Grow Up Ramones

3 a.m. (dark time of the soul) Music - I May Be Ugly The Beautiful South

Theme Tune To Life - Wasting My Hate Metallica

Funneral Music - Sex And Death Motorhead

I'd Wish I'd Written... - Leaving New York REM

Feel free to come up with your own headings, and remember all choices are your own and to hell with what anyone else might think.

The soundtrack to my life is written by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe and performed by The Four Seasons (Featuring the "sound" of Frankie Valli)

If you want to sample that soundtrack, then as a classic example please listen to "Rag Doll", issued in 1964!
Best regards

John

i dug up this old topic because i thought it was something taowbst would be interested in, and as we've had so many other new members since this thread last got an airing, i thought it a good time for it to get a little longer.

looking at my original choices, i don't think i would change any of them, though i would probably try and come up with some new titles so i could squeeze in music by the misfits, the exploited and even more stuff by the eels. in fact...

Smash the State - I Still Believe In Anarchy The Exploited

Halloween Theme - Halloween The Misfits

Good Morning World - Saturday Morning The Eels

Can't do this all at once so this will be edited in bits.

Feel good toon - Come Dance With Me, Frank Sinatra
Party toon - lots and lots. Maybe Town Called Malice (Jam) or Here Come's Your Man (Pixies) or BACKSTREET'S BACK - ALRIGHT!
Feel bad toon - Save Me, Aimee Mann or F.O.D., Green Day
Hangover Music - ooh, I don't get hangovers, but I imagine it would be something like I will Survive, Gloria Gaynor
Feeling romantic - Wild as the Wind, Nina Simone
Feeling rrowwrr - Teenage Kicks, The Undertones
Tune in my head most days - I Wish I Could know How it Feels to be Free, Nina Simone
Oook. Whooop.

Not seen this one before, this looks life fun.

Bad day at the office - Mad World - Tears for fears

Monday Mornings - I don't like Mondays - Boomtown Rats

In the mood for going out - Get your hands off of my woman - Darkness
Boys are back in town - Thin Lizzy
Alright - Supergrass
When I come around - Green Day

My mood in a morning - Somewhere else - Razorlight

Wish I'd written - Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf
I want to Break Free - Queen (It is an anthem in itself)

Pre-Rowenna song - Breakthru - Queen

*!&"("! song - Life is a Lemon and I want my money back - Meatloaf

Snogging song - Secret Smile - Semisonics

Still don't understand - Whiter Shade of Pale - Procul Harum
Tie your mother down - Queen (I really don't get it, it's great!)

Party song - Don't stop me now - Queen

Ultimate pop song - Bohemian Rhapsody / Prophets song - Queen
Paint it Black - Rolling Stones

Feel bad - Anything by Coldplay, Muse or Radiohead. However good I'm feeling, they still depress me!

This took me a long time to do, it was much harder than I thought and I missed so many good songs out that it is really going to bug me.

Favourite sing-a-long song - Last night - The Strokes - sheer class

How about doing a continuation of this thread - favourite albums (but can't have greatest hits) - some of them in contention for me would probably be

A Night at the Opera or News of the World by Queen.
Bat out of Hell 1 + 2 by Meatloaf.

I'm sure there are many others but I can't think of them right now.

as with the "hit list" for books, i want some reasons as to why, and speaking of which i think its about time someone did us another book review. anyone read anything interesting lately? then go to the hit list...

I thought I'd dig this one up insead of creating a new thread: I went to see Gogol Bordello last night, and they were frigging amazing. They're described as "gypsy punk", and accordions do work live! There was pogo-ing aplenty at the gig, but I don't quite think the records will capture the live intensity, unfortunately, as they're a true live performance band. See them if you can.
