It will cost £454.88 to repair my dented car
HOW MUCH!?! I'm glad I only drive infrequently! My entire car is only worth £2000 (Cue jokes from Al about his car...)
Today i learned that the Tarantulas I'm keeping are highly aggressive and agile! Oh crap... If you try to handle them, they bite. If you try to clean them, they bite. If you so much as look at em in a funny way, oh yes- they bite.
(I've not been bitten, I quickly learned to check EXACTLY what I've got before going near them- the ants are also bitey!)

Awww, bless Phil, he is young and unexperienced in the ways of car repairing! The dent in my car cost over £300 to be knocked out and re-painted, a job that probably took ten minutes to do!
Today I have learnt that management always lie...especially when it comes to the thorny issue of cash! :(

my punto is going to cost me a fortune this month, but its all general maintance and can't be avoided. two years ago the car cost £1150 and has now done 75000miles, which for ten years old is pretty lean!
so far ive had to spend:
£140 on four new tyres [i noticed the front left was pretty worm out a few weeks ago - probably wouldn't pass inspection!]
£120 on the new tax disc [this has increased £10 in the last year!]
£35 on the mot [it passed first time, i was so proud]
but there are some jobs that need doing soon:
£150 brake pads [the current ones are 80% worn apparently]
£160 new cam belt [needs to be replaced every 25000miles and if it breaks, to quote the mechanic, your engine is fucked]
total spending £605! - that's nearly my entire monthly wage!
plus there' some stuff to keep an eye on that could develop into more spending later on; a small oil leak and corroded fuel pipes. eek! i need a lie down

Phil, random question: do you have the type of tarantulas that can jump well? I've heard they can manage up to five or six feet, but have no idea how true that is.
Doesn't look like I'll choose to get a car any time soon, either...

Lesson 36 I am categorically not going anywhere near that person eating spider. It gave me chills just looking at the smegging picture.

Why did you bother? You could have probably bought a whole new fiesta for that amount of cash!
PS sorry to hear about your work management 'embellishing' your expectations on the monies. . . it seems to be epidemic at the moment, my work have caught the same bug.

Because at some point I'm going to have to sell it and despite how it currently looks, it should fetch a reasonable part-ex value given that it's done next to naff all miles for a 11 (or whatever it is) year old car!
Also, I didn't pay for it...
God knows what is going on with my review, was supposed to be in March, then the 1 st week of April...now, I haven't heard!

Ok.. I've been away for a week, so here we go!
1. Getting a coach to Oban is SO much better than driving yourself.
2. TKMaxx sell good waterproofs, as extensively tested on Sunday in the most torrential downpour I've seen in a long time!
3. Sea breeze + strong sun = lots of fried students
4. Gathering and organising 35people is a nightmare, especially in a wilderness where everyone wants to see different thing! (Even more respect for teachers).
5. Mull is one of the most beautiful places in Britain (when you can see it for the rain!)

Lesson 38 Bitter, followed by larger is not an award winning combination.
Lesson 39 Red wine, followed by: White wine, Bayleys, Larger and Shots is worse.

A cup of tea followed by a Brandy is excruciatingly painful.
