It seems like a hard fought battle between the top four places with only a second between Hamilton in first and Button (of all people) in fourth! It is shaping up to be a great race in Malaysia.

Hopefully I can get my parents (well, father) to stop watching the damned golf constantly so I can see this. I believe it's on at 7am, so I may be in with a slim chance.

In actual F1 news Hamilton and Kovalainen have been penalised five grid places. Naughty boys.

Kimi won the Malaysian GP earlier today. Lewis had a hard race and suffered by choosing the soft tires for two stints and finished closely behind fourth place Jarno Trulli. Good race. Especially liked the three car abreast racing between Coulthard, Alonso and Webber.

On reflection Force India, Toyota and Torro Rosso are doing exceptionally well this year. They are suffering with reliability but the car's are fast and worth of getting points and even maybe podium positions. It was good to see that the rate of attrition was smaller this race too. Two weeks to our next F1 outing

Nah - I like the crashes, that's half the fun. The more the better if you ask me !!

On a serious note, it's been really refreshing to see some of the younger drivers getting onto the podium in the previous 2 races. I'm really glad to see the likes of Kubica and Kovaleinen (sorry about the spelling) getting a chance at last. It certainly makes for more exciting racing than we've seen in the past when the outcome of the race was pretty much decided before the lights had even gone out thanks to Schumachers dominance.

I'm looking forward to an exciting season.

since traction control and other electronic wizardry have been taken away i think even the limited evidence from two races shows the drivers are working harder than they have had to do for some years. roll on next season when the new aerodynamics rules come into play, to paraphrase mark dlundel about the cars' various 'wings' this year; 'the cars look like airfix kits someone lost the instructions to.'

They are making good progress in making the races better and more exciting. We will also have a night race this year too, I wonder where they are going to put the headlights.

I read someone's opinion of Massa that said they didn't feel he would be at Ferrari long if he can't learn to control the car without all the drivers aids. Two races in a row and he's made silly errors.

and his potential replacement? Alonso! (according to whichever sports pages you prefer to read).

Apparently he's unhappy with the car not being as good as ferrari and would like to move!

2007-2008 season: Throw toys out of pram because everyone likes your teammate more than you and he's winning races.

2008-2009 season: Throw toys out your new pram because there's another pram that goes faster than yours and is a pretty red colour.

2009-2010 season: Throw toys out of new fast, red pram simply because you're a tool and everyone has stopped paying any attention to you.

Alonso is just believing his own hype, he was a World Champion in a good car but cant take losing the speed and edge - he does not seem willing to WORK to improve the car, he wants it handed to him on a plate. I would not want him in my team for sure. He reminds me a lot like Daemon Hill in the 1990's when he moved to Orange Arrows.

I saw that Alonso article on the BBC - you are right, he is being a winning whore at the moment. I don't blame him for wanting to win but the way he is going about it is shocking.

I hadn't, but I have now. Love Bernie's reaction, summarised here: "who cares?". Maybe slightly embarrassing for the governing body, but it won't drag the sport into disrepute, I'm sure. Pretty good going for a 67 year old, though.
