I'm sure someone's already thought of it... but wouldn't the top of the blimp be a bloody perfect place for a whole load of solar cells? Add electric engines... that should improve the fuel economy even further!

At the moment it is the problem with weight of the solar cells, they are pretty heavy! Technology will sort out the future energy problems rather than a change in lifestyle. If we were in OZ then it would be so easy to cycle to work every day!

The answer is a fabric that is light, strong and generates a current when exposed to light.
It might not have been invented yet, but when I get my Tardis I shall go shopping for some!

I think they have invented something that generates electricity based on your body's magnetic / electrical field. That was good but they are trying to get the cost down before it is released as a marketable item. It does not generate massive of electricity, only sufficient amounts to get a booster charge on the phone at the moment (or mp3 player). Still it is better than nothing.

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet
Taxman!
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
Don't ask me what I want it for (Aahh Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more (Aahh Mr. Heath)
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me
Taxman!

Me too...I'd like to skip the shark bit though! I also suspect that I'd be really rubbish at surfing, but hey ho!
