Before I watch that I am guessing yes. . . .
Edit: I like the way that the screen was on practically till it splintered and was turned into a fine black dust. . . missed the joke at the end. No speakers at work. . .

There is still iPhone mania dominating the Mac news but this one was interesting.
Orange are being lined up as a second iPhone carrier in the UK once the O2 exclusivity agreement ends in October. Interesting. I wonder what this will do to the pricing structures? I suspect that Orange will keep the prices high as with previous service plans.

Be careful out there on the Apple App Store Mike, some fool spent $999.99 on some
glowing red pixels!

I heard about that one. The 'I am rich' application. It says in the description that it is a work of art and is purely for entertainment! Nine people bought the app before it was pulled from apple servers! $9k for a few hours programming a screen sequence. I don't know if they have even put the app back yet, acording to the programmer it does not break the terms of his agreement with apple as a developer. Weird or what?

Simplify Media is a new piece of software that allows you to stream your music over the cellular network directly from your mac or pc to your iPhone or iTouch. Importantly this app is FREE to the first 100,000 downloaders.
I have my free copy. Do you?!

Released the iphone 2.1 software yesterday which is supposed to dramatically improve performance of the device and software. I will be testing it this weekend and will let you know. I don't think they will be having another major update for another 3-4 months now when they will be finally adding the push notification service for 3rd party applications.

I have found an interesting bug in the 2.1 software! When you start writing a text message and put in a contact in the to field and type a message. You can then leave the SMS program thus saving a draft of the message. When you go back to the SMS the name of the contact changes! Weird! Will have to look out for that one. M

32gb iPhone update soon? It sounds like a good idea but Simplify Media makes the streaming from your computer very easy and eliminates the need for a large hard disk (although leaving your computer on all the time could be taken as environmentally unfriendly).

pay'n'go Iphone released this month. There are conditions, like a minimum top up to qualify for the free internet thingy, but progress is being made.
I quite fancy a 8gig one when my contract runs out at christmas I plan to go for a contract as I'll have 18months of O2 loyalty to play on then too to get a discount.

Well they are very much worth it. Especially since the update to the 2.1 version of the software. There are still a few gripes but these are relatively minor.
1) Cut and Paste between applications
2) No multimedia messaging - I have to go through an O2 website thing to see images. Very strange. It would be good for it to be updated so the SMS could handle it. Though I don't know how it would look, the chat style SMS would be rather ruined!

Eopstech has a really nice iPhone and iPod player. Some of the images are a bit cheezy but I think that the overall concept is quite cool. The atmospheric controlled light would be a bit annoying after a while. Especially if you were trying to sleep when it kept going off but that is a side issue.
