I just got "No more heroes" from Sainsburys for the princely sum of £12. Its supposed to be quite good... I'll keep you posted. (I've played it for about 20mins and it seems to be a manga GTA type kinda deal where you wander around doing missions and killing folks, but I could be WAY off the mark).

Wii Fit has arrived, after me saying it would be months! All of our available stock has now disappeared into our back-orders though, so strictly speaking we have no stock again!

I'm looking forward to improving my balance/suppleness and maybe a little bit of cardio stuff. Can't imagine me 'increasing my muscle mass' much though, which is what it suggested to me on Nick's machine on Saturday night!

It really does need some way for you to share your high scores with mates though. Some sort of spotting would be great!

I've just seen house of the dead- overkill in the supermarket (Asda to be precise) for £20. VERY tempting (except that Tom has it and is lending it to me while he's away at a conference next week  )

Also MADWORLD has just been released! SinCity graphics coupled with INSANE violence   could be worth a look!

MadWorld looks ace. Need to finish House of the Dead first, then I can just about justify splashing the cash!

Am I right in saying MadWorld got mediocre reviews? All style and no content? Will have to check on Metacritic later and find out.

Nimtendo Wii has surpassed the 50million consoles mark. That beats the PS 2 into second place and there is still life in the old girl yet! There are rumours starting of an upgrade. Software based to start but hardware must be around the corner.

I managed to pick up a copy of Madworld at half price in Gamestation to other day. Not bad going into a shop and getting a game for £17.50! It is quite funny rather than gorry, there is something quite sick about throwing a pole at the baddies head and then throwing the dead body into a dumpster. . . .

Very Sin City graphics not played it much at the moment. Lizzie does not like this one.

Got a Wii? Get on the store and download World of Goo. Its 1500points (£15) and is STUPIDLY addictive.
you've got a limited number of goo blobs to build into structures according to the task in hand (bridges, towers etc). Gravity, wind and earthquakes make it more difficult- as does the fact that you're building with goo (Hardly the most rigid stuff). Its FRANTIC and great fun for engineering projects.

there are lots of reviews around... http://uk.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/world ... eview.html

Formula 1 2009 is being released on Wii on 20 November 2009. I am quite excited by the prospect and I am hoping that Lizzie will arrange a deal with Santa Clause to deal me in!

Ps. Formula 1 2009 will be released on the higher performance consoles as Formula 1 2010. The delay was caused by the more complex programming and graphic requirements of the PS3 and XBox 360. I am nearly tempted to get a 360 but they are just not cool enough. Only downside of both consoles is the price of the games, they tend to be £40-50 quid a game. I guess this is due to the long gestation of the games!

I'm not an expert on these consoles but I do listen to the kids in my school and they're pretty damn knowledgable on the subject seeing as they spend about 2 hours a night at least on their consoles. Their verdicts are generally that for graphics, realism, etc, then the XBox is quality but for overall 'playability' it's the Wii by a mile with the PS3 being a pretty good alternative.

Thats the gist of what the games geeks here say too... for fun its the Wii. (Slight lack of "serious" games, and the graphics are not as good- they seem to get compared to the old PS2- which I'd probably go along with).
XBox has the best games and is AMAZING online for multiplayers, but the games are quite pricey (but apparently worth it).
PS3 is somewhere inbetween- good gameplay, great graphics, but the games aren't QUITE up to XBox standards. The PS3 does contain a bluray player tho for HiDef video watching, which several people have used as justification to their other halves!

We've had the wii for a year or two now, and I must say I don't regret buying it at all. I'm a very patchy games player- I'll play for 15-40mins and then go do something else. For this I don't think that the wii can be beaten- episodic games which can be used to kill a bored hour or so is perfect for me. I can't understand people who play for hours at a time and get totally immersed in the game.
The games aren't generally super pricey either, I don't think I've spent more than £30 on a game (other than guitar hero band).

There is some game being released tomorrow but those who bought it online have it now and from what my Y10 were telling me today with inane grins was they are all going to be playing it individually tonight and ''skilling up'' before launching into an ''on-line epic battle'' tomorrow.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most heavilly anticipated and expensive games of the year! It is supposed to be amazing but the launch has been marred with retailers sending / selling early due to the recession!

Saying that I have just read an article that suggest Sainsbury's are leading the pack of cost cutters by selling the game at £26! That is a good price. As Tony is the only person I know with an Xbox 360 then I will have to wait for him to let us know what it is like.

PS I have been thinking about the Xbox 360 comments by Andy's pupils. They probably think the 360 is best because it is the lowest price (therefore more appealing to their parents!) and all their mates have one! I wonder how many of them own both consoles?

This article shows the top 10 games in the UK and the interesting part is the market share. PS3 owners are ProEvo fans and Xbox owners are FIFA fans. Interesting.
