Lesson 11 The travel websites have a very, very big difference in prices over just a few hours! Like £100 between the afternoon and the evening!

We've discovered that too! On Thursday it was £590 a ticket to Malaysia, now it's nearer £800! We are currently bargain shopping for a deal - got one in Newcastle which is possible for us but £200 is ridiculous.

Is that where you are thinking of going on your Honeymoon? When are you going to have a stag do? Is Robbo coming back from Australia?

Our room is already book and is very near the top which is ace because of the views to the right of Reids and to the left for the harbour. The reason we are going to Malaysia is because Rowenna's dad lives over there until August. He offered us free accomodation in his apartment if we booked the tickets. It was either that or the bathroom and..... well, the opportunity to go to Singapore, Kuala Lumpar, Bali (fingers crossed) and Thailand (fingers double crossed for both) kind of swayed us. Don't know why!

It looks likely that we will go to at least one of them because Rowenna did some in-depth internet bargain searching last night and got us a very good deal (mainly because we now travel from Newcastle and have to wait for 9 hours in Dubai airport). However, we do save ourselves £250 each - and on some deals it is over £380 each! It is quite weird because we would have had to stop somewhere for at least 3 hours because they don't do it nonstop unless it is from London and the cost of those flights were expensive. Also, we don't actually ''lose a day'' because of the time differences and the obscure flight times. If you are thinking about why we didn't travel from Manchester - they were all booked up for any of the days we wanted.

Looking at it holistically, I figured £500 could be better spent on having four real quality days in Singapore - going to Raffles for afternoon tea, having a Singapore Sling, visiting the museums, doing a bit of window shopping, etc - so I will stay awake.....somehow.

That is debateable. To be honest, it isn't likely to be before Easter because of the Malaysia trip. In April you are planning to go to New York which sounds cool so it can't be then.

A good time would probably be late May or June because of the weather. Just to let you know gentlemen, it is very likely to be a one day stop over in the Lakes. Me and Robbo will organise something to do for the Saturday morning - a country walk/a walk up a mountain/visit to a house/something like that. In the evening we will go to the pub. On Sunday, we will recover. I will still be recovering on Monday if Salty comes on it. Local knowledge will be sought from our very own Wainright, mr_e. The whisky trip is now out - too expensive really and I've spent it on Malaysia. The other idea that I am considering is just to have the mother of all knees-up in The Forresters/similar local ... or not to have one at all.....

Robbo is back. He has delayed his visa. He is staying until one week after the wedding. He is currently searching for a teaching position/supply work.

I learnt that it may be wise to keep some form of de-icer not in your car, just in case you can't get the door open due to a stupid level of ice!

HARSH! But damn funny! You should have seen the state of her on Sunday afternoon (she sobered up around lunchtime!)

Today I learned that you can apparently open your car using your phone!! (I got sent this and really wanna try it out- I can t use my car coz its an I.R. remote, I suspect Al s central locking isn't up to the task either! )

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to
drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

I heard that one too. I don't have that function on my little car unfort, it would be good to try one day. Not meant to be harsh with the bambi. . . . well more gentle humour!

Learnt yesterday, but I forgot to post! The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, NY does not take ANY money until you check-in...this may mean people max out their credit card limits before they get to spend anything in NY! I think I'll be paying onto my card before we go to even everything out!

That is cool. How did you find out? Asking your credit card company?

It should be very useful as I have no money at the moment and don't like using my overdraft quite as much as all of that. I bet we have to pay for the flights now though! Are we supposed to use the email confirmation as our tickets? I really don't know!

Will read it at some point I suppose but as it is 3 months away we don't really need to worry too much.

I rang up NatWest to ask them about that SecureCode issue (which they quickly dealt with!), and then asked them for the balance on my card. It was drastically lower than I was expecting so I got them to tell me the last transaction, which was petrol on the 16th.

At this point I panicked, dug up the email and rang the hotel (on my mobile...:(), to be told that they don't even take a deposit! Phew!

Mr_e was a little confused about this as well. If I remember rightly, I took it and brandished it with my passport to a confused (but not as confused as me!) woman at the Delta check-in desk...of course, they may send you a hard-copy nearer the time.
