Engadget have a report on an ultrasonic bandage that helps to locate internal bleeding and apply ultrasonic waves at a high frequency to help the blood clot. Cool and pretty amazing if you ask me. :-D

Nothing particularly unusual here. people ignore police requests to stop. etc etc big accident etc etc. But this one was about 100 meters up the road from our old house. which is very close to where we live now and I didn't hear a thing. Not a sausage.

In fact the newsagents in the picture is where I had my paper round as a kid. And the car/front garden collision was my biggest worry in the old house. Don't miss that road one bit..

The Myth of Debt an article about statistical myth and a modicum of intelligence. All very nicely argued and fun to read. I like it! :-D

John Sergeant leaves Strictly Come Dancing!!

I guess that he decided that he wanted to give the other contestants a chance as he was obviously going to win!
Shame, but I think its for the best- he did deserve to go soon. Even I think that all the bad dancers are gone now and anyone could win it, it wouldn't be good if someone genuinely good went out because John is funny.

The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena now has an aerial assault course (links to BBC video). I think Phil should go try it out first, seeing as he's nearest. Looks "interesting".

Woolworths has failed to find a buyer and is initiating an immediate closing down sale. I may visit the shop in Stockport on Saturday to see what bargins can be had. Some of the lines are already running at a 50% discount. May be able to pick up some Wii games for next to nothing. . . Feel sorry for the 32,000 employee's though.

Massive Pub Chains are slowly going out of business. Look at some of the debt to asset assessments! Flipping heck!

Random point of interest from the Woolworths article:

The bulk of the 32,000 jobs at risk are in the stores, however some work for EUK, the UK's biggest DVD and music distribution company, which is part of the Woolworths' group and is also in administration. [...] Music retailer Zavvi [...] is supplied by EUK. The Zavvi chain [...] said it had run out of stocks of key Christmas sellers.

Hopefully this won't affect anyone's Christmas gift orders, as there are possibly other companies affected by this.

Iraqi journalist throws his shoe at President Bush. I mean come on, who throws a shoe?! It was quite disturbing seeing what appears to be the security forces beating up the journalist before the cameras are turned off. . . .

in the middle-east throwing or hitting anyone or thing with a shoe is considered a terrible insult. think of it as giving bush the middle-finger [!] only i would have thought getting hit by a shoe hurts more. especially if you wear steel toe-caps like i do. and i would have thought hurling a missile at the current ruler of the world justifies an arse-kicking if you're a secret service agent sworn to protect soft headeded texans
