Screens will occasionally fail there is nothing that you can really do about it. I would hope that the Apple Care will fix it in good order. I know my friend Phil (co-incidence surely!) managed to use his Apple Care when doing a exchange student thing in Australia and it was supposed to be fab!

Good luck with fixing it. The only problem with the mac mini is you need to purchase a screen to go with it and the only real screen would be a Cinema display. Ahem. Well not only but live the dream. It would probably make the two as expensive as an iMac.

Apple App Store reaches 1 billion downloads. That is rather impressive from 9 months of activity! On and the lucky teenager won $10,000 dollar iTunes gift card, a MacBook Pro and lots of other goodies too. . . doh, if I had known that I would have been downloading apps like crazy!!

Apple gets high satisfaction ratings averaging 80% a full 14% higher than Dell. The ratings are judged on three categories, how useful they are (82%), how easy to use they are (86%) and how enjoyable they are to use (72%). This is the only company not to have a score drop below 50% in any of the categories. Dell managed to get a 47% on the enjoy-ability factor!

This time I have managed to post in the right discussion thread!

Mac OS X 10.5.7 has been released. This is Apple's Webpage that describes what has changed. It is rumoured to be the last update prior to OS X 10.6.0 Snow Leopard. Generally nothing major, some tweaks to the way mail works is probably the biggest change you will notice.

I forgot to say... APPLE CARE ROCKS!!
I dropped it off on the wednesday, got a call the following tuesday, picked it up. Everything works! :-D AWESOME!

now to sort out my bloody ipod...
Its refusing to sync with my library, Ive restored it and even done a full reformat using disc utility, but no luck... strangely it seems to work when connected to the USB1.1 on my rubbish work laptop. God only knows what the hell is wrong with it, but its annoying to say the least!

Make sure that it is not formatted to a windows format. If you format to a mac disk format then they tend to work more reliably. That is what I did with Lizzies when it first started going wrong. The only downside (?) is it won't work / sync with windows machines.

Microsoft puts Mac users at risk by not patching a critical flaw in their Powerpoint software till 'sometime in June'. Their Windows version is being fixed this week. Odd that, I wonder if that was a strategic decision on their part! It just goes to show that using Keynote on the Mac might be a better solution because. A it is cheaper. B it is easier to use. C it looks better and D Apple will prioritise critical security issues. :-D

New Apple ads take a swipe at the Microsoft 'Laptop Hunter' ads. Why bother?

Clone maker Pystar files for bankruptcy after thinking they were richer than Apple and employing a crack legal team to defend themselves against the super corporation. There was also the rumour that Microsoft was funding the lawsuit, interesting technology gossip there!

Apple have released a slew of updates to their iLife, iWork and Airport Utility upgrade today. It was rather a lot of updates although the Java vulnerability is yet to be patched which is concerning. It is only 6 months late.

New version of the main operating system for Mac is coming out in September 2009 priced at $29 (I assume that this will be £29 in the UK going on the iPhone prices). Not bad as the upgrade usually costs $129. What they have done is reduce the footprint of the operating system by 6gb and dropped the PowerPC support so it will only work on Intel macs. The upgrade is mainly under the hood with speed performance improvements as it makes better use of the 64bit core processors.

Mac OS X is under attack from a Trojan horse found on Pornographic Websites. As ususal you would have to register at the website, click on the button to download the Active X controller and then install it on your computer for it to take effect. However, it highlights the need to have an anti-virus to double check any files that you do download from the interent (just in case!).

Steve Jobs co-founder and chief executive of Apple has had a liver transplant over 2 months ago?! That is rather alarming news and seemingly a bit more serious than the Hormone imbalance previously reported.

I wonder if that'll affect their share prices again? Mr Jobs seems to have it through a couple of major healths scare over the last few years, so good for him.
