This'll be my only teacher comment today - my school has closed because of the pension strike...
Beautifully spelt, Mike! Why do you think you're such a bad speller?

You lucky, lucky thing. A free day off. . . . If I didn't know that you had spent the day catching up on Marking then I would be very jealous!
As for the spelling, you should see the number of red zigzag underlining in my letters at work. Sometimes it is due to the americans thinking that z goes in everything but most of the time it is not. Also people comment on my spelling on forums like this one moderately regularly.

Yeah... I did... marking... as well
I never pay any attention to the red lines in Office Word. I never understand 99% of the green ones either. The solutions they offer you don't make sense! I would shoot the paperclip if I could - unfortunately I like my monitor too much!

I sense an idea for an interactive screensaver type thing coming on here! BLAM BLAM BLAM "Dieeeeee Mr. Clippy!". Ahem, indeed.

Sounds like it could have potential for an internet game, to me.

Do what I do and use the "edit" button if you want to keep it on the quiet. Either that or make a second post for dramatic effect.

entrepreneur
I went to a conference on Thursday and the word ''entrepreneur'' kept on cropping up - fantastic word I think!

Superlative, guys - i'm so glad my discussion topic is still going strong. as for microsoft word and its friggin' spell checker - it's american and therefore not even speak our language - what the hell does it know?
I show my students a poem that starts something like "I rote a poem on my pea sea, i putt it threw my spelling chequer...." Totally unreliable.
Another interesting thing i thought i'd mention is about spelling and that it actually doesn't matter that much. it's the idea that all that matters is the start and end letters of a word. so long as you maintain the correct letters in between, their order doesn't make much difference.
For example,
Aohnter itrenstnieg tnihg i tuoghtt i'd mntieon is auobt seplilng and taht it autalcly dsoent mtetar taht mcuh. do you see waht i maen? Gsoh, it was dfifcilut to witre. too mcuh cnoenctaroitn for a Studraay atreonofn!
Ohmigod - i'm such a loser. Thanks for having this forum mike and giving me a "forum" to explore the saddo side of me.

That one's for you Claire. But in all seriouness, I love ya' really, and I'd heard about the jumbling up letters in the middle of words thing, and it rocks: it's always amazing what the mind can interpolate/sort out when given the chance. Language is fickle and transient anyway, it's all about common consensus, and that so easily changes. Speaking of saddos, I had considered condensing all the words listed into one post so we could see them all together...

If you send me the list then I will edit the original post so that it includes all the words under Claires first post. If you want to spit it by person too it could be like the cool websites post.
