Sin City

Post by Mike »

Went to watch this film last night. It was well shot and dramatic but after about an hour the style became repetative with little interest in the story. I felt that the film was trying to emulate a "Pulp Fiction" type story line and failed to bring em all together in the end. Thus I was faintly disapointed in the end result.

All in all

Well, it was indeed a triumph of style over story, but what can we expect when three comics get mangled together. But what style! And what buttocks! I'll give it:

*****

It's a nice try, but it needs some more damn character development. I suppose they were asking for it by lifting dialogue straight from the comic books. At least it shows there's still more to be done visually with the media.

yep was enjoyable and liked that at least they tried something different with the presentation and cinematography, but the story was very bloody repetative (though i must admit a slight glee at seeing 2 of the hobbits from lotr get killed...about time them lil bastards gt wat was coming to them.....)....heres hoping frank miller tried harder next time

A sort of comic-book version of "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", lovely imagery and stylish shooting.

Plot? In this case, plot enough to carry the style, and not one jot more...

Who cares, it was a photographic delight!

I liked this film and I didn't like this film. Yet, I don't know why I liked it and I don't know why I didn't like it. I am so undecided on this film it is untrue. On the one hand I really liked the style, the camera angles, the sporadic use of colour - especially the symbolic red. On the other hand, I really didn't like the storyline and I thought a lot of it was complete trash. However, it had me hooked. Although, I looked at my watch numerous times for when it ended.

3S

But I may change my mind.

Cinematically it was very strong. It was just the story line that made it a 2S
