Collapsed Bridge in US

BBC have reported a collapsed bridge in the US. It has been standing for 40 years and has suddenly decided to collapse. The bridge was undergoing repairs at the time, I wonder who feels guilty now for removing a bit of the essential structure! Scary or what, I hope that never happens to me.
