We were doing some re-shoots for Images of England today and one was the Pagefield building, part of Wigan College and where Mike was first introduced to that college.
As we approached and found the security gates gone it was a bit of a surprise, so we drove in and found the whole building boarded up and disused. This was a major site for Wigan College - what has happened?
How can a modernised and immense mill building suddenly be abandoned?

I presume they have received funding to move to a new building and now no one is interested in the old mill. Maybe we should buy it and convert into dwellings and offices.

I do not know for certain but I have a feeling they moved to a new temporary site a few years ago. There is a rumour that the Deanery is going to be rebuilt because it needs it basically and they have thought of merging the two together. That was a strong rumour going round the corridors and staff rooms two years ago. Leigh is getting a new college so the fat cats from Wigan presumably demanded one.
