Architect Sues Autodesk

Post by Mike »

For its shrink wrap terms and conditions (ie you have opened the letter and therefore agreed to the terms and conditions of the license.) He wants to sell on an old license to another user.

Courts apparently do not uphold shrink wrapped terms and conditions - interesting to know!

I was half-expecting to read about an architect called Sue who had a copy of AutoCAD. Anyways, I expect AutoCAD will throw everything they have at this case, as they've got too much to lose. What gets me is that for anything asides from software, people would be up in arms if they couldn't resell stuff, even moreso if you could only read the contract after purchasing the goods. It's like the courts give software companies special exemptions.

I'm a total pedant, I know. So much so that I've had to edit my first post for spelling.

It'd be interesting to hear if any architects we know have had any problems with AutoCAD licensing, but I think Mike's the only one who regularly uses the forums.
