Tate Liverpool

Post by Mike »

Arca have just about finished the refurbishment at Tate in Liverpool, they employed a professional photographer to go and take some pictures of the results.

Valency Engine's photos are really quite interesting and well worth a look. I also have some photos taken by us which I will put online soon!

Interesting shots, creative but not informative. They are creative pattern shots as I see it, certainly not a record of what is there in context with the setting.

That's neither good nor bad in my view, just their interpreatation.

I wonder what I would have done. It'll be interesting to see Arca's photos.

Why not go down to Tate one day or evening would be better to have a look. Anyone can take photo's of the architecture if you ask for a pass. Just say you know the architect and they will let you do pretty much anything!

It does feel a little bit like going to work though! Maybe the best time is to check it out is the evening when the colour change comes on. Anyone fancy a night out in Liverpool! :D

A night out in Liverpool would be a nice change. We had a brief walk down to Albert Docks when we were waiting for the Isle of Man ferry and its changed a whole lot since the last time I was in that part of the city. Loads of re-development, most of which is still in the process of being built!

It might be nice to eat in the Albert Dock before going out in the city proper - you know make a bit of a special day about it! :D

It's been a while since I've been to Liverpool, so it would be nice to see what's changed, including the Tate of course. Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever been to the dockside in Liverpool.

You have never lived - its especially nice when the storms are brewing and the sea spray thunders across the dock wall!

A meal down at the Docks sounds good. The only problem with Liverpool at the moment is that in a couple of years time it's going to look great, but now there's a lot of construction sites and half-finished buildings. Still would be nice to go somewhere different for a change.

Out of interest (and so that people don't necessarilly have to drive and park in the city), I wonder how late the trains run back to Manc on the weekend.

The last trains (Lime Street to Piccadilly) are 23:33 on Saturday and 22:30 on Sundays, so that's fairly late. Don't know if there's any engineering works coming up or not though, but seems okay for now.

I love a bit of stormy sea, reminds me of being down at my Grandma's when I was younger. As long as I'm not one of those unfortunates who happen to be standing right next to the sea-wall when the waves hit.

Well, here is the plan for anyone who is interested. We are going to disappear to Liverpool this Saturday (10 November) and go for dinner and some beerskies. The plan is to meet up on the steps in front of Liverpool Lime Street Station between 6:30 and 7:00pm.

Lizzie will be driving during the day to see her mum so as she is already in Liverpool I will be getting the train. It may be possible to give some people a lift home afterwards - depending on how many people are there! The train is leaving at 17:25 for all those people who would like to join me. (it goes through Piccadilly about 17:37).

See you (maybe!) :D

I'll be there...

17:37 from Piccadilly...I better make a note of that! :D

Is it a shirt/shoes evening or can I slum it in t-shirt/trainers?
