There is NO contest. ProEvo is the ONLY football game worth playing. That statement extends back to the days of ISS64 on the N64. FIFA has all the names etc, but the gameplay on ProEvo is infinitely superior. And its ALL about gameplay! I'm still addicted to ProEvo wii! I'm giving serious thought to proevo 2010.

I'm going to put Pro Evo on the Christmas list I think...nearly won everything now, just the French league to trawl through. Worst league in the game...no one of any skill stays in France longer than their 18th birthday, they all get bought by Arsenal!

Pro Evo has had better ratings than FIFA for years. Until the recent FIFA 10 - apparently the game play and controls have pipped evo to the post!

Amazon have messed up and shipped (and charged) me for 2 F1 2009 Wii games. So does anyone want a copy for £25?

Let me know in a couple of days or it's getting sent back to Amazon!

p.s. I've not had a proper go yet, but I can safely say that I'd suck as an F1 driver!

New Super Mario Wii is rated a 87 on Metacritic with a 9.3 from users. I am quite intrigued by this game. It is a take on the traditional Super Mario Bro's but with a co-operative multi-player mode. It sounds very much focused on the multi-player so unless you have people coming round regularly to play the game I guess it would be very much like the traditional game. Never the less, I WANT IT! Doh. Fallen for the warm fuzzy glow of familiarity.

Console sales in Japan. Here are some amazing figures. Yes that is right, Xbox 360 - 6878 sold. That is 161977 less than the number 1 spot. Amazingly poor I think you would agree.

Wii – 163,855 (215,129)
PSP - 132,911 (105,801)
PS3 - 114,368 (110,519)
DSi - 92,461 (113,984)
DSi LL - 70,643 (81,430)
DS Lite - 17,388 (17,695)
Xbox 360 - 6,878 (6,489)
PS2 - 4,023 (3,747)
PSPgo - 3,903 (4,192)

I think all those figures are extremely poor. I imagined sales would be much higher than that.

They are not world wide figures so they seem quite high!

Japan has a population of about 130 million, so if just the Wii and PS3 sales figures are used and projected throughout the year, 11% of the population would have their own console. Then you have the people who already own one... it's quite high really.

Yay for statistics.

Nintendo have announced that the successor to the original Wii will be released in 2012. This is probably 2 years before Microsoft and Sony bring out their next generation console.

The rumour mill suggests that the new console will cost approximately $350-400 at launch and will be powerful enough to match the graphic processor power of the PS3 and xBox 360. It does seem like Nintendo have blinked very soon, the Wii is still selling well (if not astronomically well as in years gone by) so I guess they are concerned about three things.

1. New motion detection equipment ie Playstation Move and Kinect.
2. Graphical prowess (HD capacity and increased frame rates)
3. Profit margins

I will be interested to see how their competitors respond. I bet they will stand back and watch, be influenced by the new console features and then improve them for their release. Exciting times!
