Well, what a sequence of events. Christopher Eccleston decides not to continue with Doctor Who, Star Trek Enterprise finishes so no more Vulcan massages and then tonight the handle falls off my last "Simply Hold a Pentax" coffee mug.

It must be a sign.

Actually, it proves my theory that things happen in threes purely because we leave the start point and end point of the count totally open.

Perhaps instead: "Well there was this Big Bang, then everywhere was full of nasty hot pebbles and then the Mayan calendar ended and it all blew up...."

Things dont happen in three's they happen in one's. You just associate the number three as significant and therefore notice it more often.

For example when I drove a ford, that car seemed most numerous on the road. Now I drive a VW they seem more numerous. Just goes to show humans will warp their perspective of the universe based on personal experience.

the notion bad events occur in threes is obviously flawed due to the simple fact bad things happen all the time to lots of different people continuously - a theory called "shit happens". however, these events are not isolated pockets of misfortune, in fact they form a coherent and relentless pattern of events named "life".

good fortune is a much more random and unpredictable factor as individuals rarely take the time to notice and appreciate when lady luck is putting in a double shift on their behalf, which leads to a warped view of the world in which good things only seem to happen to that jammy bastard who lives in the big house with the fast car and beautiful girlfriends at the other end of the street.

Pessimism is good, it generally means things can only get better for you. Unless you're really pessimistic, in which case every good thing disguises some disaster about to strike.

I am rather glad I am an optomist. Everything always happens for a a reason and even bad events are only there because they must happen for you to get the better oportunity ahead!

sometimes its good just to keep a healthy balance, sometimes the glass is half empty, other times its half full. Good things happen in threes sometimes, like a good trilogy like LOTR
