Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

Post by Mike »

This has to be written about - it managed to get a 98 on Metacritic. That is almost unheard off! It looks really amazing and pretty on the website too. They have managed to do quite a bit with the (lets be honest) weaker stats of the Wii hardware. Go gaming - Go fun - Go Wii!

It does look good...plus its less than 30 quid at Tesco at the moment. Combined with my £9 Tesco 'Cheers for spending so much on our over-priced petrol and food' vouchers, that takes it to a very palatable 21 quid...think I'll get this tomorrow after work! :D

Very jealous about that! I hope it is as good as the reviews suggest. Al here at work thinks it is amazing.

Oh. My. God!

This game is ace...the graphics are the best I've seen on the Wii, the control system is excellent and the gameplay is well frankly awesome!

I'm only a tiny bit into the game and already I've been running around inside transparent spheres jumping on Goombas, walking on ceilings and walls as gravity changes at will, flying around as Bee Mario, been surfing on the back of a ray and loads of other totally insane stuff...brilliant! :D

I give it 5S, even if the second boss did annoy me with his speed as I was trying to land on his back dressed in my bee costume!

It does seem to earn it reputation as being an amazing game. They seem to be few and far between but wow for the 5S rating too! I am glad you like it - I will have to make sure I plan a visit to Al land to scav a go! :D

Yay for Sainsbury's who were cheaper than Amazon for games. I now have a copy and it is an amazingly well put together game. Captivating, intuitive and well worth the uber accolades! Thanks Nintendo for an amazing game. 5s

I would be quite happy for you all to come round and to have a gaming day / night. . . we will have to arrange summat when you are all free.

I did a stupid thing last night. Forgot you needed to shake the remote to activate the shooting stars and spent absolutely ages on one level trying to do something very, very simple! Doh.

There was an amazing little 1-up up task. You had to run after a unit that dropped little notes. If you got them all in the right order and at the right speed then you could hear the original super mario tune (and you get a new life too!). At the moment I have 19-20 lives on galaxy one. . . . I don't know if this is because I am good or because the first world is amazingly easy.

19/20 lives? Well that's all well and good, but everytime you re-start the game you start afresh with 5 no matter how many you had when you saved it! Sorry Mike! :)

Is that what happens when you restart? I did not realise that. . . . oh well. That is not too bad then.

Yay. I have 25ish stars now. All I need to do is get another 95 and I will have completed the game. The fight against Bowser is pretty tough though!

Yay - up to 40 stars and 1/3 of the game is officially complete. Now I should be entering the start of the medium difficulty levels. :-D

Just completed the game... I confess I played it linearly- I completed enough stars to win, there are some stars still to get.
Lots of inventive levels and probably the best graphics I've seen thus far on the wii. I found it slightly too easy- once you get the jist of what needs doing the levels whilst clever are never especially difficult, the puzzles are often quite simple.
Still, I think its money well spent. I will go back and play some of the other stars- just because its a good game.
