PS3 Developer Kit

Post by Mike »

Sony have reduced the cost of their developer kit for the PS3. This is because many game developers have moved away from the sony hardware to develop for the Wii which is great for us Wii lovers out there!

Sony are apparently stacked about beating Wii sales for the first time in since its launch. Stupid Sony have had to cut the price of the console driving it further into the red on every sale AND have nintendo suffering from hardware supply problems.

All in all I hope Nintendo keep at it - they at least make some profit on ALL hardware sales and game sales. It seems a much better business strategy to me. . . .

I think the thing that will keep the Wii successful is the totally unique control aspect it allows developers and the chance to grab the non-traditional gaming market. Neither the PS3 not the XBox can offer anything close to the Nunchuk / WiiMote combo.

If they keep the price down, sort out their supply problems and keep turning out games like Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Zelda, Nintendo can keep the console alive on their own. Factor in people like EA putting huge resources towards developing new slants on their existing games, then Sony and Micro$hite will struggle for years.

They will not go down for this gen of console but I don't think that they will continue to throw money at the market - there just is not sufficient cash there to make it work. The ps3 games at £50 a pot are just ridiculous. I try not to spend over £35 on a game and it has served me well for years.
