Narwhal's caught on camera. These are cool, I can see why they are called the arctic unicorns!

I learned that my 160gb ipod is corrupted... and that its a bugger to sort it out... we'll see...

the other thing i learned is more amusing.
Type "march the 14th" into google and look at the top result. Much better than Feb 14th.

Bummer. The iPod corruption is not that difficult to fix. The only downside is that it wipes all your music and you have to re-sync the device.

March the 14th. . . well. Somehow I don't think that is ever going to catch on. . . I wonder what Lizzies reaction will be (remembering it is potentially 4 days after her giving birth!).

got it fixed... it took a while (and a hard reset) but I've reloaded all my tunes. Thank god- could have been expensive otherwise!

Thought it would be!

I learned that a room of floorboards only costs about £200 and the skirtings will cost about £10 a wall! Impressive.

I learned that your wife should always be on maternity leave as she turns into a domestic goddess! Curry, chilli, lasagna and sheppards pie! Quality!

Lizzie wanted me to mention the cleaning and general other quality nesting!

I learned that car insurance companies are totally immoral. I got a renewal notice and when I checked the price on Go Compare I found that the same company should be £100 cheaper! In the end I took the legal protection as an added service and saved £75. Shocking behaviour but I guess it is industry wide practice.

GoCompare is an ace site. I saved about £300 this year by finding an offer from Halifax to combine my car insurance and breakdown cover.

Incidentally, the breakdown cover is the same company as before, but £60 cheaper.

I learned that Homebase 'One Coat' is not as good as Dulux 'Once'. I now have to put a second coat on the ceiling in the nursery instead of watching the Rugby. Thanks Homebase. It is my fault for not listening to John Ruskin - I paid a little less and it did not do the job it was intended to do.

I am now going to visit my local branch and get my money back from their Satisfaction Guarantee.

I also learned the difference between a Laptop, Netbook, Ultra-portable and Mobile device using this very handy diagram.

My Mum has issues with the "one coat" claims as well. Don't know which brand she used though, but they should probably amend them all to "one less coat than normal".

Harsh on the rugby watching, but I guess there's a sense of urgency about the painting.

The Dulux Once is very good. It seems that it was the own brand that was the problem. The Dulux is good but my user error means I now have to open the can and re-paint one small section of the chimney breast where I seem to have totally missed a long strip. Doh! Only that and the glossing to do now!

Co-codamol rocks! It has let Lizzie sleep well through some contractions and get to grips with the whole latent phase thing again. Okay, the side effect has been some amusing dozyness and groggy behaviour!

Ah its not too bad when they are only eating milk. then the shit is more like fetid cottage cheese.... Just wait until you get as far a mixed feeding (congrats btw)

Also I know you are a keen green. are you using disposable's?

Did you know that every disposable nappy ever made is still with us rotting in a hole in the ground somewhere.

We used this lot....

deliver a nice clean bag of re-usable inners every week and take away the soiled ones. And you just need to get washable outers.. Much greener.
