Hiya
I was half talking to several people about my Film of the Year 2007. I thought it might be worth putting some suggestions down and then us all voting on the definitive Forum Award Winner!
The ones I can think of as really amazing are:
I Am Legend
The Darjeeling Limited
Shrek The Third
Do you have any more we should add?

Stardust was very good, off the top of my head, but let me have a proper think...

Atonement, maybe the final Bourne movie? Neither of those I've seen, just thought I'd throw them out there.
Thinking about it, I've not seen many movies this year, or at least not any I'd find challenging/thought-provoking enough to want to add to any film of the year list. I shall ponder further.

Don't ponder too long! I don't think I have seen many films in the cinema this year either which is a shame but I have been making up for that by watching lots and lots of Lovefilm rentals! These have been classics though and not really able to go for film of the year 2007!

I'm really struggling to think of anything that really stood out for me, either that or I didn't see enough films at the cinema!
In the interest of being different, I'm going to go for Hot Fuzz.

Well I've only seen Hot Fuzz and Shrek 3 out of those listed, so I'm going for the former.
I must get out more to the cinema (or just out more in general!) in 2008.

Well, I voted for Atonement, because it has Keira Knightley in it and it's not been slaughtered by the critics (a minor miracle?). Never mind the fact that I haven't seen it...

You voted your film of the year based on critical acclaim!!!!
Well, fair do's I suppose.

Well, I've only seen a third of the movies listed, so it would've been biased if I'd only voted for the ones I'd seen. See, it makes perfect sense doesn't it?
Edit: On the basis of
the trailer, I may well get it on DVD. Then again, that's what trailers are supposed to make you think, isn't it? Then again, the trailer, a certain lead actress and the reviews all seem to be adding up rather well.

You are rapidly getting a reputation for being a Keira 'fanboy' to use an Al'ism'!

I've voted for stardust... its out on DVD soon! With an honorable mention for Bourne (but I WOULD say that- I've loved them all.)
I saw Stardust expecting to hate it (Bex chose it). And I really liked it, enough comedy, action and interest to keep even me happy. Its reminicent of the princess bride, which is no bad thing. Its worth seeing if only for some of the cameos- DeNiro especially steals every scene he is in! I think it helped that I'd forgotten how pretty Claire Danes is!
Overall not a great year at the cinema, not that I saw many things.
I thought Hot Fuzz had its moments, but wasn't a patch on Shawn of the Dead,
Simpsons was 2 episodes worth of jokes stretched into 3 episodes of length,
Transformers- I was a bit disappointed- typical Michael Bay, frenetic to the point where you feel your eyes will start bleeding and with the obligatory heavy handed message about peace and cooperation
For sheer stupidity Shoot Em Up has to be worth a look- ridiculously idiotic film, a gun fight starts in the first scene... and continues for the next hour or so! Even DURING the sex scene

! It IS quite inventive and never claims to be intellectual. I think that there's a time and a place for films like this (friday night with curry and beer!) Its also quite short at just over 90mins, so you don't get fed up- worth seeing.

I have now seen Stardust and would agree that it deserves an honourable mention next to the Darjeeling Limited. I think Darjeeling beats is by a hair's breath but that is still going some.
