Twobdays untill the Apple event. It appears that the rumourmill has it's eyes on iPad for an Apple tablet computer. There appears to be evidence that Slate Computing (linked to apple) is trying to take the iPad trademark from Fujitsu Systems in the US of A. Will be interesting to see the announcement online later this week. Let's hope an iPhone 4 and OS4 will be released at the same time.

iPad. Worldwide distribution within 90 days.

10" screen
10 hours battery life
1 month charge life
iWork compatibility
iBook compatibility
app store compatibility
Dock with physical keyboard

Price = $499 for the basic 16gb model and $829 for the top of the range model. Nice announcement, I want one for no apparent reason. The price is very competitive. No one expected a $499 price tag. I hope that it is actually about £300 in the uk.

I must say that, based on the small number of clips/adverts I have seen, I like it a lot. I might just be tempted to finally join this Apple revolution...

I just hope it doesn't mean the end for bookstores like Waterstones.

Apple Page on the Design and Technical Specifications.

March 2010 for the US of A release date. No work on a UK price yet.

Okay. I admit it. I want one, I did not think I would but I can't help myself.

I was slightly surprised by the lack of multitasking capability... is this actually true (ie. no iTunes whilst browsing etc etc)? And the lack of support for Flash. A camera might've been nice, but it would've upped the price a bit.

If I was going to buy one I'd wait for the next generation to arrive. It has to be said that it does look very slinky though.

Like the iPhone you can listen to Music whilst browsing (or reading) but that is all. iPod is the only thing that they let to drain system resources. Its sort of weird. If I was about to buy a netbook then I would buy the tablet. However, I don't want a netbook as I have my phone. I DO really want a new phone with a faster processor, and more memory, mine is starting to get very, very full and therefore a bit slow. (in fact - edit, there is NO space on my iphone after the glut of video's provided by apple over the christmas period. And my obsession with downloading apps).

Need to do some editing to my iPhone playlist to get only my 1,000 greatest tunes on there.

Discussions are raging across cyberland about the iPad. Mostly computer users are furious that it isn't something else, that is, something they want, and they can't understand who could possibly want to buy one. I don't think it's aimed at the market niche they occupy!

What shall I tell them? :?:

If you want to buy a notebook it would be a good alternative. If you want a proper computer then buy a MacBook or an iMac. Is that good advice? I don't know but that is how I view th ipad!

Large Architecture firm uses iPhone in enterprise! This is a large scale deployment of phones which are generally considered unfriendly to business users.

The IT department are getting iPhones this month as their 'Business Phones'...sadly I'm not deemed important enough to have a 'Business Phone'.

This does however mean I can turn my personal mobile off and be happily uncontactable by my boss at night/weekends/holiday without being shouted at! :-D

Nicely done! Non contactavility at weekends is a must.

I heard a rumour that the ipad may be avaliable in the UK with a 3G data contract for around £100. That would be impressive!

9 out of 10 computers over the $1000 were Apple's. Pretty impressive especially since the trend has been the same since June 2009.
