Leadership and Self Deception

This is a book that was given to me by work. It had some interesting theories about leadership contained within it if you could ignore the constant babbling on about being in or out of the 'box'.
It postulates a system of being able to remove negative feelings in the workplace and to try and focus on getting the required results for the company / organisation that you work for. It had an interested start quote that said
When you ask someone what they want when they start a new job they generally reply 'we want to work well with our colleagues and help the company achieve success. If you ask the same question a year later the principle tends to be confused with lots of resentment towards colleagues who are not seen as 'pulling their weight'
I paraphrased the above because I could not find the right page. The intention is to get everyone to try and work towards helping others in their organisation to achieve the results by being aware of Self Deception, Self Justification and Self Betrayal. The idea is that by using these principles you will be 'out of the box' and be able to work more effectively. The main sticking point that they try to resolve is that if others are 'in the box' you have a real problem because they do not see what the problem is, they are bending the reality of the situation to fit their view of it (or the truth as they see it).
I don't know if this is going to be helpful or not at work but in terms of entertainment and being a thought provoking read it is quite worth it. Please try and ignore the 'box' references though - they do get rather wearing. All in all:
