Birthday Girl

Post by johnriley1uk »

Starring Nicole Kidman and some guys that you never notice whenever she's on screen.... 8)

The story is about an ordinary bloke who orders a bride from Russia. She arrives and speaks no English, then her "cousin" and his pal arrive...

Made by Miramax/Film Four and definitely worth watching. I won't give the plot away in case it spoils your enjoyment.

Based on the limited information and slight clues that you provide and add my perverted imagination does this mean that I am right in thinking that Nicole Kidman is mail-order bride? Oh Wowsies. Website details please!

Nicole Kidman is indeed a mail order bride. I think there is also a bit of bedtime fun involved in the film too! Here is the imdb page that should give you lots of fun information. It was quite funny when she finds his stash of 'adult magazines'. :-D

One thing that struck me about this film was that it could have been written for Steve Coogan. I wonder if it was?

I like it when an actor really nails the role like this. When you can't imagine any other person in their place they must know they have done a good job!

I think I've seen this. Quite a sweet, charming film, really. Nice plot twist, but maybe slightly predictable if you like to guess endings. Can't remember there being much "bedtime fun" involved in it, but it was a long time ago that I watched it. Certainly not a classic, but pretty enjoyable, probably more like 3.5 stars:
