The Making of Lego!

The making of Lego from Business Week is a really cool insight on how they make the 15 billion lego bricks annually. The process is so precise that only 18 in 1,000,000 are considered to be defective! That is 0.000018% of the production or 270,000 bricks annually!

I'm amazed there's still a need for it... surely everyone must have about at least two plastic tubs full of it in their attics by now?

Lego is the greatest thing in the world. Period.
It is so good as an educational tool as well in terms of learning about construction, designing, scaling, imagination, etc.... and of course, destruction! I loved playing with it as a kid and can't wait to do so again when I hopefully have a little kiddie.
However, I don't really like some of the new lego town stuff. It is too rounded if you ask me and takes the real fun out of lego which is of course the ability as a 5 year old to take the hospital building and the shell garage, demolish it and build a car that is far too long with ridiculously over-sized wheels and to have a house attached to the boot because your driver may get tired only to present it to your dad to then witness him going slightly mental on how you have caused him 'so much work' because he now has to go and rebuild the hospital and shell garage because you want them back in your own town. Oh happy days!

Can't wait to do it again....

True. That always impresses the fickle buggers.

It impresses me too - how embarrassing is that?!
