Missed the race, but saw the Massa incident on YouTube. That was pretty funny, provided the pit crew are all okay.

It was a very exciting race, the pit mistakes of Ferrari are just plain worrying, they will have to be careful as they are almost in the situation where they could snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory! In the constructors championship anyway. I sort of feel sorry for Kovalainen who just seems to be pissing points up the wall for the team. It is obvious they have a car to win but the consistancy between the drivers is worrying. Both of their drivers are sort of showing their inexpereinces show sometimes and it is causing more problems for Kovalainen!

What did you think of the whole night race experience? It was good to see the sparks and the flames off the cars but the whole 'seeing the drivers eyes' thing that James Allen kept banging on about did nothing for the experience. On the one hand it seems to be an extravagant waste of electricity to light a track at night but then you are driving mega fuel inefficient cars round a massive race track! Not really very sustainable in itself.

Alonso was very dominant and it was a deserved win for him in a Schumacher esq run.

The final race of the season is in two weeks on Sunday in Brazil. The current leader is Lewis Hamilton and he is 7 points clear at the top of the table. It is not cut and dried yet though (aka Schumacher era) and one step wrong for anyone could make their season end in disappointment. Given the whole field being pretty un-reliable at times I am not confident that either Massa or Hamilton are going to have an error free weekend. Lets wait and see though.

Watched yesterdays race when I got home from t'pub. Seemed a solid performance from Hamilton. Another race like that and he'll have the championship in the bag.

Hamilton would have sewn up the world chapionship yesterday if it hadn't been for the most predictable overtaking manouvre ever in F1. Despite team orders now being banned the Raikonnen gave Massa second place. Just because they didn't explicitly order it over the radio doesn't mean it wasn't a team order. I really hope that both mclarens come good next race so they can get both drivers and constructors championships and send the red scum home with nothing.

and of course mclaren wouldn't have done exactly the same thing if the situation was reversed?

In fairness yes mclaren would probably have done the same thing but... I am pretty sure if Mclaren did it the FIA would have docked their points.

Mclaren won't complain in case they need to do the same thing next time! The worst result for the sport would be a Hamilton Massa crash next race. That would have awful PR and team relationship problems. Not only that but of would be a shit race!

The BBC are reporting that teams will cap their engine prices to $13.2m a year from 2009. I wonder what they are costing at the moment?! I thing it would be quite funny if the engine supplies were only costing $5-6m each year up till now.

there was an edition of top gear when richard hammond drove the renault alonso won his 2nd world championship in and the price then was £150,000 per engine! the steering wheel costs £30,000, and the nuts the hold the wheels on? £600 per wheel

Massa's set the pace in practising, a stonking 0.190 seconds faster than Hamilton!

OMG! Did you actualy see the race?! Lewis Hamilton JUST managed to hang on to fifth place and won the World Championship. It was so scarilly close as he lost the required fifth place to Vettel on the last two laps in the rain and only reclaimed it on the final corner as a Toyota on dry tyres lost over six seconds on the final lap.

I was so tense for the whole race it was not funny when I though he had thrown it all away! As far as of goes I was glad Hamilton won but really felt sorry for Felipe Massa who did everything required to win the race and be the centre of attention as he tried to cope with extreme disappointment. That was harsh and respect to him for keeping it together long enough to get through the podium presentation.

Woot, British World Champion! It's very exciting!

The BBC report on the event. It really captures the unknown element that made it a great race. I am really looking forward to the next season now. There will be Hamilton, Raikonnen, Alonso ex world champions racing and Filipe Massa who is by far the most improved driver in Formula 1 this year. He has narrowly missed out on two Championships now so it will be good to see how he races next year.

Oh, and I don't know who I was talking to about the BBC running the commentary from 2009 but apologies. They were right - I thought it was much later they were taking control. The 12 year stint at ITV is now over! I wonder what changes and which familiar faces we will see on the track.
