DMR on Games

Post by Mike »

EA Games have decided to remove a controversial part of their DMR protection on two new high profile games (most importantly Spore). I am not sure where I stand on this. Obviously there is a lot of coping going on in the industry that needs to be curbed, however, I hate the whole idea of being forced to authenticate my games every 10 days before I can play it. That sort of thing annoys me as much as the whole Genuine Window's Identification tool. :-0

Well, that has to be one of the DRM ideas most likely to alienate fans. I know PC games have problems with rampant piracy, but still... people buying the game then potentially finding they can no longer play it due to circumstances outside their control sucks. Had forgotten about Spore, don't think I'll buy it but it'll be interesting to see how it's received.

I wish I'd never installed the WIndow "genuine advantage" thingy as well, but the update pop-up got annoying (had to leave it on for security patches really).
