Powerset

Post by Mike »

Powerset is a system that searches Wikipedia articles and actually automatically summarises the information and searches for information regarding your subject that is not contained in the main article.

The best way I can describe it is by using an example. If you search for Henry VII. You will the main article about him, a summary of his life, then a list of articles that contain additional information regarding the man, his wives and also the monasteries he dissolved. It is quite good to be honest and worth a try. :-D

Haha! Using this search engine I discovered why bubbles in Guinness go down the side of a pint glass. I could have found it out using Wikipedia for sure but this was mucho fun anyway. :-D

I'm not overly convinced even by some of the examples they give on the site. Still, I've bookmarked it for future use just in case, as it's probably more efficient for a small portion of queries.

I would be fascinated to know how they manage it, though I suspect it would be way over my head. Like you say, it will be interesting to see how it develops, ie will it be the Google killer that some blogs are predicting?
