Jam Vs Marmalade
Here it is people. The poll of the century so far. Who sits on the Jam side of the fence and who sits on the Marmalade side of the fence?
On another note. What is the difference between the two?

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
I'm going for peanut butter too! I love the stuff- its the best thing to eat after training too! Full of fats and protiens... YUM!
If it HAS to be jam or marmalade, then Marmalade- I'm not really a fan of sweet things. (Although there is NO substitute for jam in a Victoria sponge cake).

HEY! HO! Lets go!
Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
Wilkin & Sons jams are gorgeous, so I have some of that lying around... raspberry is a favourite. If I ate toast for breakfast I would most likely buy some marmalade though, either the Oxford stuff (nice chunky bits) or Wilkin's.
Basically, I'll eat anything. The marmalade entry on wikipedia answers your last question Mike, and is a fairly interesting read, given the topic.

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
Marmalade is citrus fruit and jam is normal fruit. I looked this up prior to posting the topic just to see if anyone knew without needing to look it up!

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
Well, no. That is for sure. I was just slightly freaked out by the implication!

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
Jam every time...marmalade is ok, but just doesn't compete with the gorgeousness of a decent jam.
Nothing says "romance" like a kidnapped injured woman!

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
Unless you're elsewhere in Europe: "In some languages of continental Europe a word sharing a root with "marmalade" refers to all gelled fruit conserves, and those derived from citrus fruits merit no special word of their own. Due to British influence, only citrus products now may be sold as "marmalade" in the European Union (with certain exceptions), which has led to considerable complaints from those other countries."Mike wrote:Marmalade is citrus fruit and jam is normal fruit.
Annoying Europe one food at a time... go Britain!

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
I feel like we have really benefited society as a whole by legislating on that issue. It makes me feel better that there are no marmalade fakes out there ruining my enjoyment.

Re: Jam Vs Marmalade
It does beg the question: you can't sell Strawberry Marmalade, but can you legally sell Orange Jam?
