Eight Miles High

Post by Mike »

This is a concert / musical at the Playhouse in Liverpool. It celebrates life in the 60's (namely 1968) and is a tale told through the guise of a summer festival before they became 'pay for' events. The main point of the concert was to sing lots of famous hits from that year and they were sung very well indeed. The singing was 5s behaviour!

There was a brief plot behind the singing that rues the loss of the 60's innocence and free love (and drug use) and the following commercialisation of their ideals in the 21st century. This was not as good and was about average 3s.

All in all it got people dancing (it was a meal and theatre experience which was nice) and singing along with the hits. There was a good comedian as MC. The Award winning Keith Carter no less who is credited with 'helping Liverpool win the capital of culture' (by the Capital of Culture judge Sir Jeremy Issacs').

Total rating? 4s

PS The Liverpool Food Company did the catering and they had a simple menu that was made with very good ingredients and well executed. I was very impressed - 5s.
