Hiya
I was reading on Web Monkey that the Word Press creator (blogging software) is currently looking and developing a Social Networking Site tool that would allow everyone to post galleries of their photographs, post messages etc to the site.
Would you peops be interested in trying it out? The forums are good as a message board but I think it would be nice if you could all upload your photographs and have more control over the content of the site. Let me know what you think, the link above will take you to the article I read earlier. I will have to look in more detail at the requirements for the software to see if I am technically able to run it on my server but initial thoughts are good!

It would be nice to post some pictures of our various travels and sights abroad. I already do to an extent on facebook but use this site more than that one.

Re: RileyUK Forums
We can post pictures in here now, or at least link to them.
How would the change affect bandwidth? Would it be as effective just to allow direct uploading into the forum?

Re: RileyUK Forums
From what I can gather it would be like a multiple blog set up. You would be able to issue individual blogs, galleries and messages. . . after looking into it I am not sure at all, but might have a play if I have lots of time to spare. Unless there is an overwhelming urge from the members that is.

Re: RileyUK Forums
I like the forum as it is. Occasionally I'd like to be able to post random pictures (e.g. of camping) but that'd take much more space on your server, and I'm not THAT bothered, its easy enough to link in a facebook gallery. I'm not that fussed about having a blog, I've not got anything interesting to say!

I'm happy enough to keep things the way they are to be honest. As Phil said, it's easy enough to link into a Facebook or Flickr group for photos and I'm not sure if the blogging idea would work in this context.

Re: RileyUK Forums
Maintain the status quo! Honestly, I don't need the site to be any slower than it already is for me. I have Photobucket or links to Facebook for pictures and other social networking needs. Plus I'm rarely on Facebook, so I doubt I'd use it any more even if it or something eerily similar was staring me in the face via these forums.

Re: RileyUK Forums
I think we can discount this one now as a thumbs down! After the whole debarcle last week I think that is probably a good thing.
