Part of me feels like I should be supporting Scotland for that one... I think I'll do a Switzerland and remain neutral.

The England vs. France game was a joy to watch though, at least for the first half. Toby Flood did go off injured though, not checked for news on his condition yet.

Well I have been rather luck so far today! Clean house, Lizzie has slightly slower contractions and have been able to watch first half of Italy France. Some good tries by France. Shame really I like supporting Italy so I am hopeful they will turn it around (unlikely I know!).

We will see how much Lizzie can rest! 17:30 too much to ask? That would put us nearly at the end of the England match! []

There were some great games today! The Italy France game was score-tastic! Well done France after the poor performance against England the other week.

England - Scotland was strong with a score of 26-12 at the final whistle.

Wales - Ireland was a close and exciting game with the penalty in the last minute being very fun to watch indeed. :-D

It was amazing that we managed 2nd in the table after all those early disapponting games. Oh well, hopefully we will start the next competion with a bit more strength.

Reason: Wales - Ireland (Doh!) was pretty distracted when I wrote that!

England did okay today, although they let things slip for a while in the second half again. Hadn't been following the table positions, so I was surprised to see them second as well!

I felt sorry for Wales, but by the time they got to that last penalty it was pointless anyway: they needed to win by about 13 points to lift the trophy (if my memory serves me correctly). Dramatic for Ireland though, as they were totally going for that Grand Slam.

Wales would have finished second if they had beaten Ireland though. That would have made their tournament feel so much better. As it is they finished way down in fourth which really does not reflect their power during the rest of the tournament. Odd really isnt it.

It is also odd that England were the highest try scorers in the whole tournament. . . . freaky.

Jonny Wilkinson is leaving Newcastle to play for Toulon. That ends a 12 year injury filled time at the club and hopefully will keep him going for the next five years.

This takes the total number of English players leaving the UK to play abroad at the club to include the following!

Sebastien Bruno
Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe
Tim Ryan
Joe El Abd
Kris Chesney
Jamie Robinson

I get the feeling that the salary cap is starting to bite away at the English Talent.

I guess that means that the Sale - Newcastle match at Edgeley Park will have lost its shine!

Coach/alcohol/rugby trip to France, anyone? Otherwise there's always the Heineken cup, if Toulon qualify.

How about Alcohol / Plane / Alcohol / Match / Alcohol / Flight / Sleep?

Based on our team leader's football-watching trips to the Netherlands, that sounds more likely. You could probably fit another "alcohol" in before the sleeping though.
