IMDB turns 18

IMDB has turned 18! That is well impressive as it happens to be four years prior to the start of the Internet. Happy Birthday IMDB despite the fact you are owned by Amazon it's still one of the most amazing sites out there.

4 years before the start of the Internet? Depends what you consider to be the starting point.
The military had been playing around with internetworked/dispersed computers since the 60s. The standard TCP/IP network protocol became the approved protocol for ARPANET in the early 80s and by the end of that decade, Tim Berners-Lee had come about with the hypertext idea. Still, for such a simple idea, it has shown that along with sites like Google the internet does have a certain amount of longevity despite the dotcom bubble bursting!

Fair point I think the start point of 1994 was actually for general public internet as we know it today. IMDB was a usenet group before then.
