Amazon prime is now offering a free one-month trial where you get an automatic upgrade to next day delivery on and I quote 'Eligable Items'. I think I will have this for a month and then cancel as I don't want to pay the £47 per year subscription. The free trial nicely saved me £10 delivery on my new external hard drive though! :-D

That's great if you are buying "eligible items" but most of the things I buy are not....ah well.....

My 1TB hard drive has now arrived! The only downside is I don't have sufficient space on my backup drive to protect all my files. . . oh well. I will move the music over to the new drive and the home movies of Cuba and Baby Riley because I have the originals incase anything goes wrong.

The photographs and final home movies better stay on the main HD and keep being backed up.

For the postage or for the subscription? Either way it is pretty bad.

Talking of sneaky charges I discovered that Jewsons are actually rather sneaky too. You order 30 boards and they charge you per linear metre. Thusly if their random lengths of board are 4.2 not 3.6m in length you get charged an additional £20 or so for your order. That is pretty bad in my humble opinion, especially since it is an automatic charge to your card.

Does that also mess up the number of full pieces you have for your project?

Yes we had to have a bit of jointing when it goes into the cupboard. Unfortunately it is just outside the door but that is the way it goes I suppose. The floor looks good!

Ironically the 4.2m boards would have been better - the second delivery was 3.6m lengths has caused the problem. In hindsight I suppose it would have been useful to put the 4.2 down first in the cupboard and left the jointing till the chimney. Oh well, I am still very happy with the results.
