Go Ape!

We tried Go Ape this weekend.

www.goape.co.uk

It was rather awesome! Climbing around on an aerial assault course, doing all sorts of strange obstacles mounted several meters up in the trees. The 400m ziplines into and out of the course were brilliant!

The only real criticisms were:
Long waits at times, it was REALLY busy and occaisionally we were getting thru much faster than the group ahead of us, so we had to wait to start... which lead to...
THE MIDGES! I got eaten alive... over 300 bites on my legs alone. There was no indication from staff or signage at the start that there were loads of midges in the forest (of course once you had ziplined in you couldn't really leave very easily!)
I really enjoyed myself, but the pain I'm in now is really taking the shine off an otherwise excellent activity weekend.
So, 4s but falling fast!

Midgets are a real pain in the 'everywhere'. They are annoying, shame it ruined an otherwise good weekend. What was the occasion?

no occaision really, we were bought vouchers by Beckys Mum and decided to use them. Alex, Matt and Emma joined us. If anyone else fancies trying it- count us in! I'd go back (or to another site) although, as mentioned, WITH bug spray!!

(I'd quite like to take a cheese grater to my shins at the moment- I'm on antihistamines and am painted in anthisan cream. But with that many bites its hardly suprising that I'm reacting worse than I usually do!).

There's one at Rivington if you're interested Mike. If memory serves me correctly, it's about £30 for a full course which takes just over one hour.

I've never done it before but having watching the contestants I have to agree with Phil's views, the midges were fairly bad and would have undoubtably been exaggerated by the attention-seeking, screaming 13 year old girl whose voice grated my brain even from such a great height.

A GoApe has opened in Rivington near Bolton. It looks amazing. Work are trying to arrange a trip out there on Bank Holiday Monday. Not really good planning there; I bet the crowds are going to be mental.

Did you read my above post? Obviously not or you would have known for a fortnight that one was there :-?

If you are thinking of Rivington on a Bank Holiday Monday which is still on during school term time then yes, it is going to be very busy.
