Sun Beds

Post by Mike »

Sun Beds have been reported as causing higher chances of Cancer if used in people below 30. The radio report of this quoted the head of the Sun Bed association as saying 'It is okay as long as people use the equipment with care and are aware of the risks'. My initial thought was that tabacco companies initially resisted reports that smoking was bad for you. . . . . it did not help them very much in the end.

Well, anything will be bad for you if you overuse it. I notice the BBC report helpfully includes no information as to the average exposure time of the people in the survey. Surely using a sunbed for 10 minutes a couple of times a year wouldn't significantly increase the risk? People must be almost burning themselves on a regular basis on those things.
