Merceedes rule out an appeal for the penelty on Schmacher for his last corner overtake of Fernando Alsono. It is a shame to be honest, I would have liked to see the positions stand.

Looks like the FIA are going to reassess the safety car rules after that. Teams must have to be really on the ball with non-obvious rules like that around.

Watched the 90-second summary thing: that Trulli - Chandhok crash could've been nasty! One car riding right up over the other with its rear wheels near the cockpit is not good.

mr_e, if that rule was so non-obvious then why were all the commentators aware of it. It's a failing of the team and driver not to understand all the rules, Schumacher obviously knew and he's been out of racing for a few years. The result should stand and Alonso should be given a solid smack upside the head for being a fool!

They wern't, on air they were leafing through their rule books trying to find the clause, it was brought to their attention by Ferrari.

This was a shame because it was an example of where the rules actually prevented some fun and gutsy racing. The rules control the fun is appropriate I believe.

European Highlights with Mark Webber doing a full vertical flip in mid air on lap 9. It was a good race full of excitement!

Senna dropped for the British GP this weekend. What an auspicious end to his F1 career, apparently Hispania will have a press release ready on Friday.

Forgot to post about the British GP. Doh. It appears that most of the drama occurred prior to the race, but at least it fired up Red Bull's "number two" driver (Webber!) to storm the field. When I read the background to the wing swap I was a little surprised.

Jenson Button avoids 6 men armed with Machine guns in Brazil following Saturdays F1 qualification session. Wow, that is a turn up for the books.

I always forget that Sau Paulo has some fairly high crime levels, but hey, at least they had an armoured Merc to ram through the other traffic with. Apparently they've gotten a bit more cautious with taking care of the drivers: the BBC mentioned a similar incident there a few years ago.

Looks like we could be set up for quite a tense final race, any of the top four drivers could be in with a shout!

Only 3 have an actual realistic chance though. I think that Lewis would be very, very lucky to win from his current standing in the World Championship.

Yeah, I think Hamilton has a "technical chance" of winning, because the likelihood of the top three failing to get any points and him coming in first are fairly slim. That said, that would be amazing to see.

You are not wrong. I think that this is the first season in years where I have watched the whole thing. It has been a great championship, even better than the last two years which have also been moderately exciting.

I am rooting for Webber, Lewis then Vettel in that order. Alonso for all his talents does not have my support.

I've just caught the results. Haha! Won't spoil it for anyone just in case, but I'm happy with those final standings.

It was a great race from Vettel to seal his maiden F1 title. However, the race lacked a certain exitement with few overtaking manoeuvres and a relatively weak performance from 2 of the condensers (even with a poor strategy choice). All in all I backed the wrong Man, although McLaren did very well to get 2nd and 3rd in re race. I also liked the solid drive from Nico Rosberg who finished 4th for Merceedes.

5s season the culmination of 3 eventful years. I can't wait until the new season starts in March 2011. What a scary though that it is only about 4 months away!

Yeah, better season than most have been in recent years...still prefer the fuel related pit-stops but can't really complain.

Wonder what weird and wonderful rule changes we'll have to get our heads around next season?
