Deep in the Snows of Yorkshire

Post by johnriley1uk »

Yes indeed, we were in Harome yesterday, just South of the A170 bwteen Helmsley and Pickering. The main roads were open but very iffy, slightly better on the way home. The country lanes around harome were a nightmare of deep snow and slippery sludge. At 5pm we were digging ourselves out of the car park, then digging ourselves out of the first road junction and thereafter slipping and sliding our way back to the A170. Sutton Bank is a 1 in 4 gradient and thankfully that was fully gritted and free, but nowhere else was!

The wedding went amazingly well, despite the Bride having to arrive in Wellies! It's that sort of thing that brings out the fun in an occasion. But the stress on those organising things! Will the photographers be able to get through? Will the old Rolls be able to negotiate the snowy lanes? Will the flowers arrive?

Well everybody go there and all was well in the end!
